Unable to uninstall ENow client through Windows Control Panel
Symptom
When attempting to uninstall the ENow Client through Windows Control Panel > Uninstall a Program, the removal of the ENow Client fails.
Cause
This issue can occur when there are locked or corrupted files which have left the ENow client services in an orphaned state. When this happens they cannot be removed, causing the uninstall process to fail and be aborted.
Solution
Use the following steps to manually remove the ENow client from the affected system.
-
Use the Microsoft uninstall tool to correct the issue by downloading it locally to the server in question and then running it. Download access is available from the following URL:

Open Task Manager, select the ENow Processes one at a time, right click, and select "End Task."
-
Open Windows File Explorer, navigate to the Program Files (x86)\ENow Folder. Right click and delete the ENow Folder.
-
In the Windows search box type
cmd
then right-click on Command Prompt and Run as an Administrator. -
Use the SC delete command to delete the ENow Client and ENow Admin Services, using the syntax below
SC Delete "ENow Admin Service"
SC Delete "ENow Client Service"
Once the ENow client is uninstalled using this method, users can proceed to reinstall it on the monitored server.
Applies to
ENow Software has tested this method on EMS 7.13. CU1 (7.13.1.232), though it should work with other version as well.
