Symptom

When previewing the Mailscape 365 Office 365 reports a GUID is displayed in the UserName and DisplayName columns are showing a GUID instead of actual User or Display names.

Cause

On August 30th Microsoft posted a notice that they were making privacy changes to Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics on September 1st. The change was to turn on an existing feature to anonymize all user-level information, such as usernames, to help companies support local privacy laws.

The change by Microsoft in your tenant means that the Microsoft 365 reports within the ENow platform will show anonymized user-level information instead of identifiable user information.

If your organization does not have privacy practices that require anonymizing user-level information, then you can revert this change from Microsoft.

Resolution

Administrators can easily turn this feature off within their Office 365 tenant to allow user-level information to be shown by going to Settings > Org Settings > Services and selecting Reports. Under Choose how to show user information, select Show identifiable user information in reports.

Once the reversion has been made, the ENow platform will show identifiable user information the next time reports are generated.
