Purpose

One of the exciting features of EMS versions 7.13 and newer is the ability to use Modern Authentication. This article explains how to verify that Modern Authentication is being by your ENow Office 365 service accounts in EMS versions 7.13 and newer.

Procedure

1. Sign in to https://portal.azure.com  with an admin account

2. Navigate to Azure Active Directory>Sign Ins

3. In our test environment, we have a conditional access policy that only requires MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for admins, but Modern Authentication is still used for our test accounts (for example Alex Wilbur) through single-factor authentication.

4. To verify that our test accounts are using Modern Authentication, we can add the filters "Client App" and "Modern Authentication Clients." The display below shows that the test accounts Alex and Adele are signing in with Modern Authentication. They do not require Multi Factor Authentication, as the Conditional Access Policy requiring MFA is not applied to them.
