Purpose

ENow Management System can use Modern Authentication for its Office 365 service accounts. This article explains how to verify that Modern Authentication is being used by your ENow Office 365 service accounts.

Procedure

1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center at https://entra.microsoft.com with an account that holds at least the Reports Reader role.

2. Browse to Entra ID > Monitoring & health > Sign-in logs. The screenshots below were taken in the earlier Azure Active Directory portal; the sign-in log itself shows the same information.

3. In our test environment, we have a conditional access policy that only requires MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for admins, but Modern Authentication is still used for our test accounts (for example Alex Wilbur) through single-factor authentication.

4. To verify that our test accounts are using Modern Authentication, we can add the filters "Client App" and "Modern Authentication Clients." The display below shows that the test accounts Alex and Adele are signing in with Modern Authentication. They do not require Multi Factor Authentication, as the Conditional Access Policy requiring MFA is not applied to them.
