We recommend involving ENow Support in these steps. Deleting the wrong server entries will interrupt monitoring on servers you intended to keep.
Purpose
This article covers removing servers from the Admin Console by editing configuration files directly. It is useful when:
- You are unable to remove a client server (Exchange, Domain Controller, and so on) from the ENow Admin Console through the GUI, or
- You have multiple servers to remove at once.
Procedure
The ENow Client is removed manually by first uninstalling it from the server, then editing three configuration files on the ENow web server.
- On the client server you want to remove, open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
-
Uninstall the ENow Client from that server. This completes the work on the client server.
If the uninstall fails, see Unable to uninstall ENow client through Windows Control Panel. - On the ENow web server, open IIS Manager and stop the MailscapeAppPool.
- In Windows Explorer, open the ENow
Database\Propertiesfolder. The default location is:C:\Program Files (x86)\ENow\MailscapeWeb\MailscapeData\Database\Properties - Delete all folders whose names match the clients being removed.
- In the
Databasefolder, open Authenticate.txt in a text editor. The default location is:C:\Program Files (x86)\ENow\MailscapeWeb\MailscapeData\Database\Authenticate.txt - Delete any lines listing the server names being removed, then save and close the file.
- In the
Databasefolder, open Authorized.txt in a text editor. - Delete any lines listing the server names being removed, then save and close the file.
- In the
Databasefolder, open Catalog.xml in a text editor. -
Locate and delete any
<s>entries containing the server names being removed.
Example: to remove the server "Riverside Exchange 2016", delete the entire line including its opening<s>and closing</s>tags, as highlighted in the screenshot. - Save and close the file.
- In IIS Manager, start the MailscapeAppPool.
Once these steps are complete, the affected servers should no longer be listed on the OneLook Dashboard.
Applies to
ENow Software has confirmed these steps in EMS 7.13 CU1 (7.13.1.232). They apply to all versions from 7.12 onward.
