Purpose
This article explains how to configure a GALsync policy to synchronize objects that have been hidden from address lists in Exchange Server environments.
Background
By default, GALsync will not synchronize objects that are hidden from address lists. (This is also true for contactSync.)
Hidden objects have the msExchHideFromAddressLists attribute set to True in their object properties, as shown in the screenshot below.
Procedure
GALsync (and contactSync) policies can be configured to synchronize hidden objects with the Include hidden objects setting. The setting must be enabled for both export and import policies.
Follow the procedure below to configure this policy setting.
- In GALsync, select the policy to be updated.
- On the policy window, access the Directory tab
- Click on the Settings button
- Check the Include hidden objects checkbox
- Click Apply to close the Export Settings window.
- Click Save (on the top right of the policy) to save the new settings
Refer to the screenshots below for clarification.
Configuration for Export policy
Configuration for Import policy
The steps for enabling the Include hidden objects setting in contactSync are identical except that the starting point will be a contactSync policy.
Applies To
This steps in this article have been tested in GALsync 7.6.4, but should apply to other versions as well.
